Wedding Photographer

Needless to say that you want to remember your wedding day for the rest of your life.
From experience, I can tell you that the day itself goes by way too quickly.
It’s impossible to fully experience and take a mental snapshot of every moment that day.
That’s why you ask other people to do that for you 😊.
This page is all about wedding day photography and videography.
Selecting the right photographer for your wedding is an important and very personal choice.
I think a good way to go about it is to review their portfolios (i.e. online photo galleries) that show past events they have shot.
That way you can get an idea of each photographer's style and strengths.
Wedding photographers usually offer different photo and video documentation packages.
These service packages differ in pricing based on how many hours they accompany you on your wedding day as well as the additional editing and production services you want to include.
Note that your chosen wedding date will most likely also affect pricing.
As a general rule, dates in the summer or priced higher than winter dates.
Many photographers include additional services such as:
- A wedding video,
- Prints of your wedding photos,
- A photo album with your wedding shots,
- Wedding photo(s) printed on items (mugs, pillows) or used for thank you cards
Checklist
You can find more advice on how to go about finding the right wedding photographer here. They also provide your with a free checklist of questions that you can ask wedding photographers when you contact them.
How many hours should you book your wedding photographer for?

The answer is different for every couple and depends on what portion of your wedding celebration you want to have documented.
To start, you could decide when (at what time) you want the photographer to begin their documentation. That could be:
- When the bridal party is starting to get ready (is getting dressed). This could include just the couple or also the bridesmaids and groomsmen as well as family members.
- It could also be later in the day, right before your wedding celebration /ceremony officially starts
- Or you ask your photographer to arrive in time for the reception at your wedding venue
My advice for you is to take enough time to think about your vision for your wedding day photography and of what you want to capture that day.
Here are some ideas:
- Portraits of the newlyweds in front of select backgrounds (indoors and outdoors)
- Portraits of family and friend constellations with the newlyweds
- Candid shots of the wedding party and guests
- Photos of your outfits, the flower arrangements, decorations, food, the venue, ...
